We're all selfish lovers. We place ourselves above the other cause that's what we were taught to do. We're all so fucking helpless. We gotta learn to be a little fucking selfless cause that's the only way we're gonna make it through. You say I love you, but how could that be true? I don't even know you. I guess these are just the ways of this modern age. You hold on to anything that feels good. Maybe love is just an invention, a way to keep our attention as we stumble through a life that's unfulfilling with hearts broken in two. What am I gonna do?

Wake up in the morning and go to work. I comb my hair, put on a clean shirt. I barely make it in on time and I'm wondering is this my life. Come home at the end of the day and I don't have much to say. I go to my room and shut the door. I don't worry about a thing anymore. Sometimes I forget being 25 isn't the same thing as being 15 and I guess that's a good thing. Then the weekend comes and I do what everybody does. Sit in front of my TV screen, it makes things so fucking easy. Then I might pour myself a drink. It makes it easier to think. My head feels so light and clear. I don't worry about a thing anymore.

I was on a plane 10,000 feet in the air. I was staring straight ahead thinking of all the things I said last year. I was searching for clarity, sitting there in my window seat. All I found regret. I don't know why I said what I said. I don't know why I did what I did. I was lying to myself trying to be someone else. I lost track of reality. But now I got my feet back on the ground and I'm trying to figure out how to do those things I used to do so easily. I don't know why I said those things I said. I don't why I did those things I did. I wanted a change but I didn't want to change. I was so insane, it was so insane.

Park the car in the garage next to mine. Don't forget to turn off your lights this time. I won't be there, you can let yourself in. There'll be food on the counter and beer in the fridge. Just do whatever. I don't really care. Just do whatever. I'll be there when I'm there. There's towels in closet next to the bath. You can take a shower if you're feeling bad. I don't have a TV so you can't watch a movie. You can sleep on the couch or in the bed. I don't know when I'll be back home. I didn't want you to come but you said you had nowhere else to go. I'll be at my dad's house watching his TV. You should call me and tell me when you're leaving. Just tell me when you're leaving. Just tell me when you're gone.

When you got nowhere to go and nowhere to be you can take your time you can let it breathe. You can get familiar with the city streets and see where they lead. And if you want you can set yourself free but first you gotta learn to be on your own. All the things we do to keep the loneliness at bay all they ever do is just get in the way. We just gotta accept we're on our own. I'm better off being here on my own. I'm better off being all alone. You say you don't believe me, well you could always see right through me. On my own.
